Zürcher Kantonalbank is launching three new sustainable thematic funds
Zurich, 6 September 2024
- Zürcher Kantonalbank Asset Management is expanding its range of sustainable investment strategies to include the themes of “Circular Economy”, “Healthy Longevity” and “Digital Economy”.
- Swisscanto thematic funds are suitable for investors who wish to invest independently of the traditional boundaries of investment funds and on the basis of high-growth mega-trends.
- The funds focus on companies that provide technologies and innovative solutions for upcoming challenges and that have the potential to participate disproportionately in future mega-trends with their products and services.
- The new launches complement the existing range of sustainable Swisscanto thematic funds and underline the tradition of sustainable investments.
Zürcher Kantonalbank Asset Management has today launched three new sustainable thematic funds. These funds are intended to enable investors to participate in the considerable prospects for growth in the global investment themes of “Circular Economy”, “Healthy Longevity” and “Digital Economy”. The thematic equity funds invest in companies, regardless of industry and sector, that offer promising solutions for the themes addressed.
Spotlight on these three global investment themes
The “Swisscanto (LU) Equity Fund Sustainable Circular Economy” sustainable thematic fund aims to enable investors to benefit from the transition from linear business practices to a resource-conserving circular economy. The main goal is to decouple economic growth from the consumption of raw materials and to overcome the constraints associated with the availability of natural resources. The fund focuses on companies that offer and develop innovative technologies and solutions that are likely to drive this transformation and benefit accordingly.
The sustainable thematic fund “Swisscanto (LU) Equity Fund Sustainable Healthy Longevity” addresses the issue of “healthy ageing” – a theme that is gaining in importance in almost all countries in view of rising life expectancy. Maintaining good health from an early age is key to being able to enjoy old age and overcome the individual and societal challenges associated with ageing. The fund invests in the mega-trend of population ageing with an emphasis on the challenges and solutions arising from demographic trends.
The “Swisscanto (LU) Equity Fund Sustainable Digital Economy” fund is the third newly launched sustainable fund. Its investment theme is a driving force behind economic prosperity in almost all areas of life and the economy – from global trade, communications and security to research and development.
The digital economy fosters transformation in a wide range of industries and should therefore also contribute to greater sustainability. The thematic fund invests in companies that are expected to benefit from the expansion of the digital economy.
Wide product range with tradition
The three new thematic funds supplement the existing range of sustainable thematic funds of “Swisscanto (LU) Equity Fund Sustainable Water” and “Swisscanto (LU) Equity Fund Sustainable Climate”. The existing Swisscanto thematic funds focus on prospects for growth in the two investment themes of “Water” and “Climate”. Thematic investments with a focus on sustainability have a long tradition at Zürcher Kantonalbank. For example, the two funds have 17 years of expertise in the areas of “Water” and “Climate”. Zürcher Kantonalbank has been conducting sustainability research since as early as 1996.
